Good day, Dear Friends, THanks a lot ! rattling stage :) last two shrouds, due to kit specific (they are not in the same plane as other shrouds) can't be rattled as others... and shaved :)))
than my dog came with final inspection...checked everything... and eat two blocks , which I just prepaired ...spent approx two hrs to fabricate them... than he was very sorry :)))... blocks looks like passed examination... :)))
:))) He was very enthusiastic in attempts to find where he dropped his "bomb" with eaten blocks ... but alas... park area so big ... Finaly I did them again and completed full set of blocks for main mast sails running rigging
Dear Klaus, Matthias, Thanks for you comment and attention for this my project :) Matthias, this imitation of fighting cloth I've made from fabric , it is percale ... very thin , light in weigth and in the same time quite dense... in russian market it has No 7018 ( there are a lot of other kinds of percale , but this is the best \ ideal one ,for ship modeling... I guess there should be equivalent of such material on the local market in your country ... there is pictures frm post 37 , where I show fabrication of this this imitation of fighting cloth... percale was preliminary soaked in deluted (high concentrated) white wooden clue and than, while it still remains wet , pinned to the working surface and it could be painted acrylic paint\ or permanent marker at the same time( but there I don't remember anymore, what did I use first for coloring...actually it is not so important , if "paint" gives ness-ry color)... when it is wet, You can easily shape it to the nessry form with pincette or any other suitable tools...and after You reach desired effect - leave it to dry... I used hot air to faster process... When it became dry - it keeps form which You did before...later You can make remains of adjustments - cut, refresh paint if ness-ry, add some adging effect and add all ness-ry additions before final installation on the model...but do it carefully - don't apply too much water, there is risk to loose all those folds and than need to repeat process again... on my model , folds on the fighting cloth remains in the same shape , already couple of years... Hope my explanation was useful ... :)
Meanwhile last weeks spent for rigging ... small jobs , but time consuming... + I don't know exactly , how\where to secure all those running ends of the rigging...strange that on such small area as galleon's f'castle deck need to be secured so much ropes - almost all of Fore sails and some ropes of main mast sails ...already looks like conglomeration of ropes... but it is not the end ... some ropes still need to be added ... :O
Thanks for your explanation, which is indeed very helpfull.
I did not even know percale in my own language until today, but the explanation I have found is very good. May be this is good stuff for sails as well.
Grüßle vom schönen Bodensee

Good Day, Matthias, Daniel, Matthias, yes, this fabric , percale , is very good for making sails as well, I used it when making sails for my project... the only thing need to be care when shoose this fabric ... there are several types of percale , with different characteristics... this type/No 7018 which I used ...I think , it is some kind of local code, not international... but as refrence I could say it was most expansive (and best in quality) compare to other avilable types... just for case , there is link to fabric which make this stuff ( maybe you can choose google translator to translate specification of percale 7018) ... ПАСПОРТ Наименование ткани: «Перкаль Б» арт. 7018 (ГОСТ 12 125-66) Физико-механические характеристики ткани ... http://tkach.ws/page/parametri/perkali/ ************
Daniel, You are absolutely right! regarding strange position of those staff on grating... yesterday I had feelings that I did smth/ wrong ... it would be better if this kit doesn't show grating in this area... but it has/did! :( I will try to make some rearrangements with clamps positioning... would like to show them secuered to the some kind of solid piece of wood...in such case , may be it will look more realistic? eye bolts ,unfortunately will remains attached to the grating frame - ... do You know if there could be such construction ,as " permanently fixed" gratings? ... in such case I could leave eye bolts at the same place where they are fixed now...? Or it is not the case , and gratings exists only in removable shape? Would be nice to hear ! :))) All the best! Kirill
Not being a galleon expert, it is an intriguing question about the sense of the grating on the forecastle as the deck underneath is open towards the waist ...
Nevertheless the eyebolts could be seen as being fixed on the coamings, that works, and the clamps could be moved more outwards too then. The davit (nice detail!) looks to be fixed on a beam in-between the gratings?
Just one more curiosity: Was this type of davit already in use by the galleon times? Or when was it introduced?
Cheers and thank you so much for sharing here, it is an outstanding build!!!
Daniel, Thank You very much for your comments! now busy with rearrangemts construction of those part of the deck, where clamps attached... need to do smth. ..with it... sure clamps should not be fixed to the gratings as well as fish davit... try to install some kind of deck plate instead of gratings in this area... idea of davit construction was "steal" from Biorn Landstrem book abt Vasa...
Good Day , Dear friends, Regarding clamps - had to abandon this idea... and returned back to initial arrangements , where to secure upper sails haliards - will secure them to the knights on forecastle deck, near aft railings... same position I saw on one of the old drwng... hope this position will be more realistic :)))
meanwhile did experiment with "spider" ...unfortunatelly I couldn't rech absolutely strait lines... this , on the fotoes , the best which I could affort :)))
Good Day , Dear friends, have some updates of my project - last weeks were spent for fighting with those halliards spiders ... it made me nearly creasy at the end :))) But finaly I've found the way how to manage them - first attempt was rejected , in this part , where crowfeet attached to the stay, it looks a little bit coarse...so I decided to rearrange securing ,and did it separatelly - croefeets were pulled trough stay and cutted to the bottom, than I did imitation of the knots by single very thin thread... each crowfeet , when they were adjusted in position, I coated with liquid CA clue - when it dry, they became as metal wire and are able to keep stright / line shape... later on all ropes were painted... for easy attachment and shape adjustment I found than better to use ropes unpainted - much easy to work with them when they remain soft... All the Best!!!
